It is impossible to walk around Calpe without approaching the entrance to the Natural Park. It is not necessary to go up a long climb or a long walk to be able to observe the primitive beauty of the coast of Alicante. The steep walls of the Rock, together with the vegetation and the blue of the sea, create the perfect setting to enjoy the moment.

Whether you are a hiking or climbing enthusiast, the Peñón de Ifach Natural Park offers routes to climb to its summit, where you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the Marina Alta region and Alicante's Costa Blanca.

The climb to the Peñón de Ifach
To begin with, we must say that the Peñón de Ifach is not an accessible route for people with reduced mobility due to the terrain, which can be rocky and difficult at specific points along the path.
It is also not advisable to go up with minors from the tunnel onwards, due to the danger of the path.
Pets are allowed to climb, but must be leashed to protect the local fauna and the safety of the hikers, we have to comment on the difficulty of the final stretch, which is steep and slippery. However, pets may also encounter difficulties, especially on the steeper and more slippery sections.

Climbing the Peñón de Ifach can present certain risks, especially if the right precautions are not taken. The route up the rock is considered to be of moderate difficulty, but is risky if certain precautions are not taken in unfavourable weather conditions. The steep terrain can become slippery and dangerous. It is essential to do the route with well-fitting mountain shoes and to bear in mind that there are stretches where it is possible to suffer from vertigo.
The Peñón de Ifach is 330 m. high. This route is designed to be done uphill and downhill for approximately 4 hours.
For the preservation of the Peñón de Ifach reserve, access to the upper part is limited to 300 people per day. In the link of Calpe Tourism you can make your reservation online.
